By means of a microhistorical investigation into the life and antics of an obscure public prosecutor in Munich, this lecture aims to exemplify the reversal of the burden of proof as a serious design flaw of West Germany’s denazification policy.
Martin Schaad studied history at the University of Stirling and earned his Ph.D. at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford. From 1998 to 2024, he worked at the Einstein Forum, serving as deputy director from 2001.
