„…und Lichter waren überall“. Die Fontane-Rezeption in China

Moderator: Prof. Dr. Fabian Lampart, Potsdam

Over the past decade in Germany, Chinese students’ study of German philology has increased through reform and open-door policies. To date, Chinese literary academics have participated ambitiously in research discussions that were mainly centred around Western schools of thought. Without a doubt, this trend affects the study of Fontane philology. The academic reception of the canonical author is characterised by the specific pursuit of one’s own position in the dialogue of international research. The lecture presents new and exemplary Chinese interpretations of selected Fontane texts.

The event will be held in German

Xiaoqiao Wu studied German philology at Peking University. In 2005 he received his doctorate from the University of Göttingen, where he wrote his thesis on the Misalliance of Theodor Fontane and Arthur Schnitzler.
